Ben Moore Company is a partner of EMG. Ben spent 15 years at Best Buy Company, most recently as Senior Vice President Retail Support and Operations. His responsibilities included creation of efficient and effective operating models as well as a sustainable culture that optimized investment in people, tools and infrastructure to support Best Buy’s growth. He was also responsible for all property functions and store support including merchandising operations, labor, store operation model and business capabilities.
In 2007-2008, Ben was responsible for the development and implementation of a new store operating model which reduced expense by $220 million annually, while providing more customer facing labor. He was also responsible for managing a $4 billion SG&A budget, and a $460 million capital budget. As a Lean Six Sigma, Black Belt, Ben instituted process improvements which included reducing new store construction costs by 12% annually and developed a five year strategic growth plan for Real Estate expansion and asset management.
As a Senior leader of Best Buy Real Estate, he was responsible for developing the vision and strategy for Best Buy’s Real Estate portfolio. He led cross-functional teams that were responsible for site selection, store design, lease negotiation, deal execution and delivery of new and surplus Real Estate. He also managed teams that included Real Estate, Market Analysis. Construction/Architecture, Store Planning, Property Management and Real Estate Legal.
In addition, under Ben’s leadership, Best Buy developed strategies and executable initiatives in Environmental affairs which included emphasis on energy and climate, material efficiency, natural resources, and recycling. These elements played critical roles in the Best Buy broader Social Responsibility efforts which also included people, both customer and employees, as well as community engagement and service projects.
